Harbour Brewing Co invests in new packaging kit

Harbour Brewing Co has made a commitment to using recycled packaging with the addition of a new cardboard packaging machine.

The Cornwall-based brewery established in 2012 has taken delivery of a beverage multipack machine from T. Freemantle.

Since 2012, Harbour Brewing Co has grown from strength to strength and now exports craft beer all over the world including to countries such as Australia and America.

Whilst the core focus for Harbour Brewing is supplying their Cornish beer to restaurants, they now supply to well-known supermarkets such as Marks & Spencer, Asda and Morrisons.

Eddie Lofthouse, chief at Harbour explained: “One of my main goals for the business is to become a B Corporation and we want to be as ethical as possible by reducing plastic and replacing it with fully recyclable alternatives such as cardboard, as a result we opted for the T. Freemantle Ltd machine to help us achieve this.”

The new machine supplied by T. Freemantle Ltd, the UK manufacturer of beverage multipack machines, is all geared around cardboard packaging.

The range on offer is designed specifically for the small to medium sized beverage producer so suit the needs of a craft brewer perfectly.

The machine is understood to be the most flexible machine of its type, manufactured in the UK, and can pack cans and bottles in a variety of counts and sizes, within a huge range of different cardboard pack designs.

Since starting out in 2012 the craft beer industry has grown rapidly with higher competition, demand, and expectations.

Harbour Brewing have successfully made contracts with large supermarkets that are also pushing for a more environmentally friendly product which has also pushed higher volume production. After turning to Thornbridge Brewery for recommendation, they contacted T. Freemantle Ltd to help them meet this demand.

Lofthouse went on to say: “We were able to work together with T. Freemantle Ltd to create a machine that would cut out plastic and also provide a multi pack solution for all our products.

“The service was great from buying right through to commissioning and although the machine hasn’t been in place for long, I am confident that it will do the job I bought it to do.”
