Harlem Brewing Taproom to Open in Brixton

Harlem Brewing Company, the pioneering craft brewery founded by Celeste Beatty, the first African American woman brewer to launch a commercially distributed craft beer, is opening a taproom in London.

The business has announced a groundbreaking partnership with the newly opened Brixton-based Supercute Brewery.

This transatlantic collaboration will bring the iconic taste of Harlem to the UK, with a dedicated Harlem Brewing taproom set to open at 5 Market Row, Brixton Village.

Starting in July, beer enthusiasts can experience the vibrant “125th Street IPA,” a refreshing brew bursting with hip-hops, citrus and spice, along with other flagship beers from Harlem Brewing’s diverse portfolio. Each sip tells a story of this iconic 200-year old corridor, a living testament to the soul and spirit of this great community.

“This partnership is more than just beer; it’s a celebration of shared passions for craft, community, and culture,” said Celeste Beatty, founder of Harlem Brewing Company.

“Even across oceans, our shared values and dedication to legendary beer bring us together.” “We are thrilled to bring Harlem’s distinctive flavours to the UK and create a lively taproom in the heart of Brixton!”

Supercute Brewery, known for its innovative brews and commitment to fostering community, is equally enthused about the collaboration.

“Brixton and Harlem boast a cultural exchange that spans music, art, and social justice,” said Hammant Patel Villa, founder of Supercute Brewery. “Our partnership with Harlem Brewing is a natural extension of that connection, celebrating our common ground over a shared pint in our welcoming taproom.”

The new Harlem Brewing Taproom, a partnership with Supercute Brewery, designed in collaboration with renowned Harlem artists and Brixton architects Squire & Partners, will evoke the energy and rich history of Harlem. The space will feature a bold colour palette inspired by Harlem’s street art, murals that depict iconic Harlem landmarks, and a curated selection of music that celebrates the neighbourhood’s musical legacy creating a dynamic and welcoming atmosphere where guests can truly experience the soul of Harlem in Brixton.

BrixtonXHarlem: The innovative partnership between Supercute and Harlem Brewery is a direct result of the historic twinning of Brixton BID x Harlem’s 125th Street BID, two iconic neighbourhoods recognised for their historic diversity, cultural significance and activism. This collaboration, born from a shared commitment to community and social justice, aims to celebrate the unique heritage of both districts while fostering economic growth and cross-cultural exchange.
