Great British Beer Festival moves to Birmingham

The Great British Beer Festival will return to the West Midlands for the first time since 1983 when it takes place at the NEC in Birmingham next August.

In a statement the organisers said: “The Great British Beer Festival 2025 promises to be bigger, better, and more interactive than ever. We’ll be bringing you the best in British and international brewing all under one roof.

“Expect an array of hundreds of beers, alongside real ciders, perries, and even a cocktail bar for those looking to mix things up. There will be plenty of entertainment, delicious food, pub-style games, our Discovery Bar and more experiences like never before.

“For the first time since 1983, the Great British Beer Festival is heading to the West Midlands, and there’s no better location than the iconic NEC Birmingham. With excellent rail and air links, it’s never been easier for beer lovers from the UK and abroad to join the fun.

“Whether you’re coming from near or far, the NEC provides the perfect setting for our legendary festival experience. Plus, thanks to our partnership with the Caravan and Motorhome Club, you can book a stay at the festival Pop-up Campsite right next to the venue!”

In December 2023 the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) dramatically announced that, due to venue issues, it would not be holding the country’s largest beer festival in 2024.

The organisation went on to highlight that ongoing building works as a major impediment to the event and that, whilst other venues were explored, it proved impossible to secure an alternative location.
