A Scottish brewer has finally created what he has been thinking about for “a very long time” – a Dundee cake beer.
According to the Evening Telegraph, Danny Cullen, founder of Dundee’s Law Brewing Company, said he wanted an ale which used ingredients a close as possible to a Dundee cake recipe. This includes orange, fruit, spices and almonds. The end result is a red ale, fruity in flavour, with a hint of spice.
He told the Evening Telegraph that he’s made 700 bottles originally but if it takes off, he’ll do more.
The former research scientist turned-brewer released his first ale in 2016, All-Nighter Gold Ale, which he described as “a representation of a session beer with a Northern Soul vibe”.
