Beer cheaper

For punters wanting an inexpensive drink, Wetherspoon pubs has cut beer prices to as little as £1.39 a pint.

Owner Tim Marshall, a Brexiteer since day one, says this is to send a message to politicians that prices can be cut after EU tariffs are removed.

He says that if the UK leaves the Custom Union on 31 October, the Government can end tariffs, which will cut prices in pubs and supermarkets.

In other pub news, the Social Market Foundation think tank has called for the Government to support pubs by raising the tax on alcohol sold in supermarkets.
