Beer sommeliers qualify

The Guild of Beer Sommeliers is proud to announce that two individuals have successfully completed and passed their Beer Sommelier assessment.

These individuals have demonstrated their skills in communicating a deep understanding of beer, brewing processes, and beer and food pairing, earning their well-deserved credentials.

The newly certified Beer Sommeliers are Sam Lyne from Sharps Brewery and Jared Ward-Brickett of Tring Brewery

Each of them has passed a rigorous exam designed to assess knowledge in various categories, including beer styles, ingredients, brewing techniques, and food pairings, among other key areas of expertise. This certification serves as a testament to their commitment to the beer sector and their passion for beer education.

The Guild of Beer Sommeliers offers a comprehensive pathway for individuals looking to deepen their knowledge and skills in the world of beer.

All applicants are required to complete mandatory qualifications prior to assessment, including WSET Level 2 in Beer, the Award in Beer and Cellar Quality, and the newly launched Guild of Beer Sommelier courses ‘How to Judge Beer’ and ‘Beer and Food Pairing’.

The final assessment covers a wide range of topics, and only those who meet the highest standards are awarded Beer Sommelier status.

“We are thrilled to congratulate Sam and Jared for their hard work and dedication,” said Alex Barlow, Chief Assessor at The Guild of Beer Sommeliers. “Passing the Beer Sommelier assessment is a significant achievement, and these individuals have proven themselves to be true beer connoisseurs.”

The Beer Sommelier programme opens doors to many exciting opportunities within the brewing industry, beer education, and hospitality sectors. The newly certificated Beer Sommeliers are now equipped with the knowledge to make a lasting impact in their professional beer journeys.
