Duration Brewing a leading UK farmhouse brewery in Norfolk are back to showcase their love of modern European classics with The Great Farmhouse Exploration. A nationwide event taking place across 30 independent beer venues over the long bank holiday weekend at the beginning of May.
Each participating venue will pour a unique line up of 8 beers to keep drinkers on a journey of discovery with something new, while also ensuring there are some fan favourites in the mix. Duration’s team of three brewers Derek Bates, Virginia Cassadio and Andy Arkley have just unveiled the farmhouse styles headlining at the event and published the participating venue list here.
The headliners are a Lemon + Thyme Grisette, a Raspberry Gose, a Continental Pale and a Lime Wheat Beer all brewed using local grains, botanicals and fruits. Some rare, seldom seen Lambic-style sours and barrel aged release will also feature. Beer lists will also include a crisp lager, Duration’s multi award-winning flagship IPA Turtles All The Way Down and a wildcard option!
Speaking about the project, Duration co-founder and head brewer Derek Bates said: “We love hoppy Belgian Pales and Wheat beers, and European Lagers here at Duration and in craft circles these beers don’t get anywhere near enough airtime, often pushed aside for hazy juicy numbers”.
He continued: “I get it, our flagship Turtles is a juicy IPA and hands down outsells any other beer we make. My hope is the event encourages drinkers to venture out a little from the standard offer while lowering the risk of these wonderful styles falling into obscurity”.
Miranda Hudson co-founder and managing director said “We set up to be a Farmhouse brewery back in 2019. This is an event where we can really showcase and celebrate what we love most – how elegant, balanced and delicious farmhouse styles are.
“It’s good to dispel the myth these beers are hard to get on with and I really enjoy working closely with the wonderful beer bars who rep us smaller breweries year-round to bring their customers something new and exciting”.
She continued “I’m delighted to see more craft lagers making it onto the bars, Good Times our core American Light is now 27% of what we brew by volume and Cuttin’ Grass our seasonal Italian Pilsner always sells out – so we’ve doubled production this year. Many older drinkers enjoy more classic regional styles and it’s our job as brewers to ensure the next generation of drinkers continue to drink them too ”.
Duration will also put a Great Farmhouse Bundle Box on their online shop with a limited release being available from 25th April but why not gather some of your beer loving friends and support your local beer bar and make a new discovery.
