Lakedown Brewing Co have followed on from a “record-breaking year” with the investment in a new canning line facility at their East Sussex HQ.
The new six-figure investment in a five-head CL5 system from Micro Can Canning Machines represents “excellent value and future proofs the business” according to managing partner Chris Rule
He said: “2023 was a fantastic year for the business. Having moved away from ‘cuckoo’ brewing into our own bespoke brewery in September, we saw a huge uplift in sales and began taking the beer outside of our East Sussex heartland for the first time.
“When we started the business, we really saw the small pack opportunity as quite niche, but as 2023 progressed, mail order went crazy and the demand for canned beer across the trade channels followed suit.
“It was a no-brainer for us to invest in our own canning line, giving our team full control of the beer and beer quality from the start of the brewing process to the final packaging, much like they would have in cask and keg.”
Last year Lakedown Brewing Co opened its new brewing facility in Burwash, East Sussex. The new 32 hectolitre brewery sees the team move away from cuckoo brewing to their own brewery, based on the 600 acre farm, owned by actor and rock legend, Roger Daltrey, who is also a partner in the business.
