Moonwake Beer Co. is launching its very first cask beer

Leith-based Moonkwake, multi-award-winning Edinburgh-based brewery will debut a specially designed pale ale for cask in February.

Moonwake Beer Co. is proud to announce the launch of their inaugural cask beer, C.A.S.K. This brew is a golden pale ale with a moderate alcohol content of 4.0% abv. It’s crafted using a unique blend of Challenger, Azacca, Simcoe, and Kohatu hops, giving the beer subtle notes of tropical fruits, citrus, and spices.

The beer is set to debut at various locations in Edinburgh on Friday 2nd February. The beer’s vegan recipe has been specifically designed for being served on cask in local Scottish establishments for a wide range of people to enjoy.

Sarah Sinclair, Marketing Manager said: “Moonwake is thrilled to add regular cask releases to its range, it speaks to the brewery’s appreciation of traditional pubs, gathering with good beer and good people. It’s already provided us with exciting opportunities to work with more local pubs.

We first started talking about producing cask over a year ago and we have been mindful of how we have gone about it from creating the recipe and tailoring it to our local audience to coming up with a design concept. Growing our team to 12 members of staff at the end of 2023 has enabled this project to finally come to fruition.”

Moonwake is looking to start its cask production with a rotational series seeing them experiment with an array of classic and modern styles. The new venture shall see them utilise the brewery’s co-founders each having a decade of cask-led commercial experience in brewing.
