A popular North West taproom is bubbling with visitors more than a year since laying “the best possible foundations” for its premises through flooring specialists Kemtile.
The Runaway Brewery on Astley Street has proven a popular addition to Stockport town centre since its opening in 2022 – with founder Mark Welsby acquiring the premises and bringing Kemtile to complete the flooring.
Welsby wanted tiling that fit the criteria of a demanding brewing environment but also looked the part for visitors sampling beers in Runaway’s new taproom.
He chose Kemtile based on their excellent reputation for success in the food and drink/brewery industry and got the solution he needed – within his budget – in just two weeks.
Kemtile laid the attractive Argelith Tiles that Mark liked, as well as installing drainage to an outside manhole. Led by project manager George Morton, the team built a bund wall and laid tiles to fall to the drainage containing everything within the bund.
In addition, Kemtile also installed and power floated a concrete floor in the area next to the bund that now functions as a delivery area for The Runaway Brewery.
He said: “I knew which tiling I wanted for the new premises – and I knew we had to get it right. I wanted the best – so, I chose Kemtile. I had heard of the great work these guys had done and I knew they could deliver a floor that would withstand the high demands of a brewery but also give a wow factor to our clientele. Today, we have a facility and taproom which we’re really proud of.”
Kemtile’s project lead George Morton added: “It’s great to see how our first class flooring has proven such a massive part of a very good looking facility at Runaway Brewery.
“When we met Mark, he had recently taken possession of a new premises and wanted the flooring done right the first time: Flooring that would withstand the rigours of his brew house and last him for years to come
“We sourced tiles from our warehouse in order to fall within Mark’s budget and the results were exactly what he was looking for.”
