KeyKeg has said the cost and the environmental benefits of using air in this process is escalating in popularity.
According to the manufacturer, customers can tap any of its KeyKeg products using air owing to the multi-layered inner bag that is claimed to provide effective protection by keeping the beverage from exposure to air.
Anita Veenendaal, chief commercial officer of KeyKeg, explained that a simple compressor can replace an entire CO2 setup, which saves space as well as money.
She added: “After all, a compressor is a one-time-only purchase, while CO2 bottles are an expensive, and recurring, cost item.
“Tapping with air is also more environmentally friendly, since you don’t have to fill or transport CO2 bottles any more.
“We’re noticing that both the cost and the sustainability aspect are reasons for many bars to switch to tapping with air. Another welcome benefit is that there’s also no more dragging and storing those heavy empty CO2 bottles.”
